Athena Skye is an up and coming artist and we wanted to get to know her better so we decided to ask her for an interview and she agreed! Below is what she had to say:
How old were you when you started to make your own music?
I was around 12 when I started making my own music, I'm 16 now.
Who are your favorite musicians? Groups?
Such a hard question! It often changes depending on my mood and season. The genres I listen to range from pop, electro, and rap. I love finding new, eclectic artist to listen to. Mainstream or not, if the melody clicks with me, I will listen to it non-stop. As of right now, I'm currently listening to Years & Years and Duke Dumont.
What is your favorite song that you have written or covered and why?
My favorite song that I had written is a song called "Life is What You Make it," which is as of right now featured on my SoundCloud. When I wrote it, I wanted to take just an ordinary love song and really amp it up with the imagery. When I write, I want people to paint a picture, instead of just listen.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years, I hope to be doing what I love, in a city that I love with amazing, creative people all around me.
What do you want your musical style to be?
Over the years, my styles has changed a lot. As of right now, I gravitate to a lot of electronic sounds, chill house and pop, so whenever I have a melody in mind, its always with that style.
What gives you the inspiration to be creative?
Music videos, new artists, books, documentaries, you name it. I get inspiration from everywhere. I am definitely a visual learner, so these are most of the mediums I get inspiration from.
